Arnold, Charles Frodsham, 84 Strand, London, lever fusee, 54mm, heavy 18K gold OF original swingout case bearing London hallmarks for 1853, "FM" marking in cameo for casemaker Frederick Samuel Matthews, fixed gold cuvette with small engraving of griffin head, gilt dial with floral center engraving, KWKS, fully capped lever escapement, 19J, diamond endstone, gilt mvt, s#7880 with matching serial number within case. Gross weight of assembled watch 87.0 dwt (135.3 g).
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running but stopping occasionally, started after some prodding and continued for several hours, overhaul recommended, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, some scattered spots and few fine scratches to plates; nearly flawless dial has few micro-fine scratches; excellent hands; case shows medium wear, no dents or dings, engine turning detail shows medium reduction with areas of full loss at shoulders; tight brass replacement bow; good glass bull's-eye crystal.
